| BIO Treatment The BIO-aged wood is obtained through a thermal treatment with the combined use of heat and steam, without chemicals. The traditional color of the wood is modified thanks to this treatment, making the floor more durable and creating specific, natural shades. |

HEAT Treatment
The heat treatment of wood is a high-technology process, that can be applicable to all kinds of wood. It consists in heating the wood at a temperature between 180°C and 230°C in order to modify its chemical and mechanical features.
The treatment is 100% eco-friendly, non-hygroscopic, stable, weatherproof and insect, mould and parasite resistant without resorting to chemical products or demanding maintenance. After this kind of treatment the wood turns darker.
The heat-treated wood is perfect for external applications such as paneling, frames and windows, garden furniture, street furniture, flooring, nautical details, bathroom fitting, baths, swimming pool-sides, saunas etc.

THERMAL ELM
Common name of several trees and shrub species belonging to the Ulmacea family, originally from temperate regions of the Northern hemisphere.
The true elm, belonging to the Ulmus genus, is deciduous and characterized by ovate and serrated leaves, with parallel midribs that origin from a single, middle keel. The small flowers, yellow or red, grow as raceme that blossom before the leaves develop. Elm wood is commonly used for farmhouse-style furniture.
The color is light brown but it darkens through time. The main characteristic of elm is its fibrous and linked texture that makes it ideal for chairs. The legs, as a matter of fact, can be embedded without cracking the wood. The wear-resistant capabilities make it perfect for furniture mechanical shelves and joints. Unfortunately, it is prone to strain and is easily attacked by woodworm. It can be polished with either shellac or wax.
FLOORS
A parquet board in Czech durmast.
FIR
Fir is a tender wood, of the resinous family. It grows in the Northern hemisphere, in cold and temperate areas. Its trunk can reach 40 meters in height.
There are two main varieties, called red deal and Douglas fir:
RED DEAL
Red deal is typical of Northern Europe. Its pulp is white when fresh. As it ages, it becomes pale yellow. It has a low specific weight, is easily worked, is hardy, flexible and can be finished well. It is more resistant than white deal to moisture and also from a mechanical standpoint.
Its straight trunk is recommended for posts, antennas, and masts. It can be worked on a lathe and can be used for furniture, frames and musical instruments.
DOUGLAS FIR
Douglas fir is valuable because it has no knags.
It is light, reddish brown.
SWISS STONE PINE
The Swiss stone pine is a soft-essence tree belonging to the resinous family. It has a compact pulp, without grain. It is mainly used for lathing and carving work.
WALNUT
Walnut is a hard-essence wood, semi-hard, of the deciduous family. It has a brown color. It is lighter when the tree is young but it darkens when it gets older. It has beautiful dark grain. The wood has a compact fiber, and it is hard, flexible, heavy. It is prone to bug crawling and weathering. It is suited for carving and is used mainly for furniture, frames and decoration.
LARCH
Larch is a resinous wood. It is reddish, with dark or light yellow grain. It is very compact and hardy, and resists moisture. It is used to make furniture, door and window frames.
The so-called "American" variety is employed for shipbuilding.
CHERRY
The European variety, which we propose, has been revalued over the last years thanks to the availability of a good stock from Eastern Europe; usually, its pale color is preferred over the American "cherry", which is actually not a real cherry. As for the walnut and beech, we commonly work on artificially seasoned cherry. Working it is easy, and has great painting qualities; it is one of the kinds of wood currently more fashionable.
IPÈ
Ipè wood is well suited for exterior decoration and it is used for craftwork due to its durability. Perfect for environments with sudden changes in humidity. Ipè wood has a warm and elegant look, and is mainly employed for exterior applications such as floors and paneling.
The wood we import is olive-brown to dark brown. The texture ranges from fine to medium.
